Exclusive Interview: Joey Alexander, Musisi Jazz Belia yang 'Ajaib'

Yeah... there is one cover which is song by Sting’s 1988 hit ‘Fragile’, and one classic standard by iconic saxophonist Joe Henderson 'Inner Urge'.

Where did you get inspiration to compose songs?

Well, to be honest, most of my inspiration came when I play with musicians, like trio mostly (trionya Joe Alexander --Red); the spirit to interact with musicians I play with, it’s inspiring.

But here at home I also try to compose more music, especially when there is no show coming, at least for now. There is a lot of time to create and reflect yourself as a person too, not only as musician.

How is the response from US audience about your new album?

So far it has been very...

Positive?

Yeah, very well. Everywhere I go, people really are excited to hear the music. I am really thankful to the radio stations who play my music so far during this pandemic. And I am very grateful for people out there who value it. I hope this album will bring hope, some sort of life for people.

Is the album also distributed in Indonesia? I haven’t seen it.
